Hello Oscar, I am sorry for any confusion about the USB plugs on the SUG7 and I will attempt to clarify their use. The USB plugs located on the end of the SUG7 do not provide for any data transfers and they do not automatically switch ON/OFF with the unit. The USB plugs are solely for charging devices that can be charged via USB. I hope this has answered your question but if not please feel free to contact us again! BITS Admin

The impression I get from the write up is that the two USB ports on the SUG7 are only surge suppressors, however, when I zoom into the picture of the SUG7 outlet strip, the two USB ports are labeled "USB Chargers". Please clarify this. It would be nice if they were both, switch USB powered ports to which you could plug in some devices such as cell phones.

Excellent new update to an already awesome product. And I love the honesty of the explaination. I use mine older model to turn on the amps automatically when I turn on my preamp for the surround sound. It really saved me a lot of money. I will be getting a couple of the new ones.
